The only thing missing from this post is the sound of the drumset being played by an ardent and talented musician, in a wide open field backed by some of southern Wisconsin’s most beautiful trees.
I am a lucky photographer. I have some of the most creative and willing clients ever. Case in point: Nathaniel and his mom and dad. I have heard Nathaniel play his drums for years. Sometimes at the Al. Sometimes at contests. Sometimes I can hear it from my bathroom. (Not really. More like my front yard.) In any case, he is a talented percussionist, with a passion for rhythm. The only place I had never really heard him play was… a wide open field. And what better time than autumn for his senior pictures?
You can’t tell from the photograph, but Nathaniel is actually quite far from the road. It took us three trips to move the drumset. Funny, once the throne was in place, he picked up his sticks and you’d think he was in his basement. Or the band room. Or on stage. He played. And played. And it was wonderful!
We got other great shots, too. Some with his guitar. Some with his yuke. And some are just Nathaniel.
Thanks so much, Nathaniel, Leo and Laurie for making this shoot so much fun!
