I’ve known Steve and Sandy since my dogs took a vacation at their kennel several years ago. My husband has known them for years. So I wasn’t surprised to get a call last fall asking if I could come to their home and photograph their dogs.
Sparky and Vedder are two very special Golden Retrievers. Smart as whips, loving, curious, adventurous and trusting. These two typify what makes the golden breed so popular.
“The boys” as Sandy calls them, can be a handful! Always getting into things, running into the field and acting silly. It’s a good thing they have room to run, and owners who spend so much time with them.
When I got the initial call about the location shoot, Sandy said, “Just so you know, the boys are blind.”
Honestly, if you hadn’t told me, at first glance (and especially when Vedder ran into the corn field, bounding among the stalks), I wouldn’t have known. With the assistance and intuitive care of Steve and Sandy, these dogs are just about as happy as dogs can get. Of course their hearing is keen.
KEEN.
They know where Steve and Sandy are. They know where the other dogs are. They knew where I was. And they heard every click of the shutter.
I am privileged to be their photographer.
