The last time I photographed this senior, she was all wet. Literally.

As former Riptide photographer, I got to know the Baraboo Riptide swimmers by the color of their goggles…the way they breathed through the strokes, their distinctive arm movements, and their smiles at the end of a race. Because when they were swimming, not only did they all look pretty much alike, they were FAST.

Kayla was no exception. I LOVED shooting Kayla at swim meets because I was always assured of a brilliant butterfly shot. She was fluid, fast and strong. I remember telling her mom that she looked, well, “determined.” And she was.

So when Kayla and her mom showed up at my door for senior portraits, I was taken aback.

Wow. What a lovely girl. (And she wasn’t wet.) In fact, without her goggles, the only thing that gave her away was her beautiful smile and the hint of freckles across her nose.

Kayla was up for anything, so we went on a little adventure around the Baraboo area and ended up with some studio shots here in my camera room.

Kayla is one busy soon-to-be senior this summer, so I’m glad we could finish up her session in June. It was a blast, from start to finish! Thanks, Kayla!
