When I photographed these children last spring, we were surrounded by laughter, giggling, shouting (across a bridge), grandparents pointing out birds singing in the trees, a favorite aunt waving, parents looking proud…and a tourist or two. Looking at the final photographs, you would never know…these are truly some of my favorite sibling photographs. And the moment was captured in the blink of an eye.
This wonderful family lives half a country away, so I’ve not had the chance to reconnect and see how tall Peter is, or to listen to Vivienne’s charming chatter. While I’d love to photograph them again, I’ll do well to remember them like this, with the day spread out before them, surrounded by their favorite peeps, the promise of a boat ride or a waterpark slide or two and of course dinner with Grandma and Grandpa. It was a vacation I’m sure they’ll never forget.
Spring is here and summer is looming. Don’t forget to capture your everyday moments, as well as the vacation memories to come.
