I’ve been looking forward to today’s photography session for a long time. Five families, all coming from different directions, were converging in our area to celebrate a momentous wedding anniversary. There were 17 family members in all. One might think it would be quite the undertaking. And, to be honest, I was a little worried.

Not about the people.

I was concerned about the lighting. The height differences (or lack thereof), and the backgrounds.

We had scoped out the area well in advance. The family had rented a beautiful home near Devil’s Lake State Park, so I knew (pending weather issues) that we’d have one of  the best locations around.

Turns out, I had nothing to worry about. The kids (all seven of them) helped move chairs and stomp weeds. They entertained themselves while the adults laughed and had their portraits taken. From a photographer’s standpoint, it was a Grade A, positive experience from the moment they opened the door and welcomed me in.

Here is just one shot of many that I captured this morning. Can you tell that they’re brother and sister? Yeah, I thought so, too!

Thank you so much, Family S, for asking me to be your photographer!
